Is this a bug? I mean, the thing provides absolutely no benefit. Why would it take damage?

In my experience if you think something is a bug, it is best to post it in the bug forum right away. That way you have a chance at getting a reply/getting the bug fixed. Sometimes a Dev will answer that the behavior is intended, in which case objections can be raised.

Clothes in UO used to take damage. I mean, everything provides some sort of benefit, or you wouldn't have it !

The ankh literally provides no benefit. It's a decorative necklace with no attributes at all.

not early on. THe clothes started taking damage once they provided armor benifits. Early on the clothes did nothing. I had newbie clothes that stayed with me when I died so I could res and put my clothes on after getting looted. I didn't like running around in my underpants.

Those newbie clothes lasted a long time, but I specifically remember mine dying due to durability.

Necklaces in general can be crafted and buffed up with masterworks/enchantments, that's probably why the items on that slot now have durability and can be broken.

Ankh Necklace on the other hand is a pledge reward with no extra bonus, my understanding is that its durability loss will be addressed along with other pledge reward equipment.

He's cheating. He's got glases on. You can't hit a guy with glasses.

I would have thought the ankh necklace would be able to heal itself.

I'd also think it should be able to be used for an insta-res (daily/weekly) or a small HOT (heal over time) or a minor buff to health. But who are we to think such things? ;)
