Rumor has it the Vulcan API for linux rivals the performance of directx, but isn't available until unity 5.6.

Any hope that SotA will be moving to a version of unity that supports vulcan soon?

There will always be issues associated to upgrade, so it may take awhile before we get 5.6 since their priority this coming quarter is aimed towards new player experience.

I wonder how smooth 5.5 was.

Related to Vulkan, but unrelated to Shroud of the Avatar, is the fact that Star Citizen is very likely dropping directx support entirely in favour of just using Vulkan alone. They are crazily invested in performance, that should say something.

Vulkan would be a natural fit for more performance for Shroud of thee Avatar in my opinion.

Sota can have so many benefits from Vulkan, especially the Linux version.

It's not a panacea but it could certainly help with things like pushing data to GPU memory.
