I was not sure if this is a bug or possibly intentional?

    Wasn't sure if:

    1) If the multiple-waves are like the Naughty Brats, you do have to be in the scene for a little while, then activate a spawner, then another wave happens. I have not seen this happen in any bandit encounter yet.

    2) You aren't aware that they are not working (or I am doing something wrong).

    3) This is intentional.

Just wondering if a dev could chime in on this, if you have a moment.

    Thanks!

Multiple waves in a simple roadside bandit encounter? I'd never travel anywhere again.

The only ones i have noticed are the ones that have a high end critter....you get that message "something is approaching" or some such. That is the only one i know of that have waves to them.

    @Jaesun

This weekend I ran into a bandit encounter (SE of Hilt) which was green to me.
After been there a while and got the ore etc I got the "you sense something powerful approaching" msg and then proceeded to get a bandit + wolf that were red to me.

This was in the clear grassland scene, the one with a road in middle and two smallish hills on each side with bandits around stones.

The spawn trigger for me was the corner with crates, after killing the bandits there and kicking the first crate I got the next wave.

So that one at least had waves. Which scene(s) were you in that didn't?

That's the normal Wave that happens in Bandit encounters. And they are working just fine. Some Overland Encounters have Multiple Waves. After you defeat the first wave, others can happen (I've seen it happen up to 3 times in a Naughty Brat encounter. Once).

I had noticed doing many many many Bandit encounters, there is only the one wave battle. But no more after that. I was just curious if this was intentional or not.

Ah, my mistake, it was the multiple part that was the keyword.
Yea you are right there was only the one extra wave.

I think what you're experience might be a subjective thing. And I'll explain how random encounters work so you'll understand what I mean.

Every random encounter with combat will have two waves. However, the second wave isn't necessarily a massive threat like a dragon or a unicorn.

For example, in the specific case of the bandits in the Plains Encounter...
The enemies at the start of the scene are Tier 2. Some of these enemies are considered to be wave 1. Killing all wave 1 enemies will spawn wave 2, the high-threat wave.

The high-threat wave will ultimately bring in 4 new enemies. These enemies can be a mix of Tier 5 bandits and/or a Tier 8 wolf. Not a big deal to experienced players, but very threatening to a lower-level player.

(And after you kill all the enemies of wave 2, a third wave is triggered which may or may not spawn a friendly NPC with a quest or items to trade.)

Ok thanks! That is indeed what happens in Bandit encounters. Thanks for explaining that!

Glad it makes sense (and that it wasn't an actual bug)!
