Awkward movement

    I would like to see an option for movement more like that in Lord of the Rings Online or WoW. In other words, instead of separate left and right rotation view and turning, you just have left and right rotation, and then you move forward. The way movement is currently, it's a bit awkward and fumbly.

    I wouldn't disagree over movement. Currently there is only really one viable movement method and that is "WASD" couple with right click of the mouse. The "QE" keys do turn but it does it really slowly to the extent they are not viable......this really needs a bit of attention.

    You can also re-define your keys to bind them to where you want.

    I've been waiting 15 months for someone to tell me why we must press both mouse buttons to move forward, instead of one...

    The first time I saw this was in one of the Asian based MMOs. The way it was explained to me was that it let you play one handed so you could eat a sandwich, smoke, whatever. A lot of the players of that game played in internet cafes, so they'd be drinking a coffee or eating while playing because they didn't want to waste their time (since they payed by the hour) to have to pause while doing something else.

    Noctua, I am awarding you the Hemlockian medal for outstanding achievement. You have answered what none could.

    But I still want to use my own controls, and just press 1 mouse button to move forward, left button for interaction, and directional keyboard keys for other movement. To me, this is utopia.

    I'm not going to play any game in any competitive capacity. Not enough to require me to have a pork chop in my left hand at all times anyway lol

    I agree that it should be customizable. Although, once I got used to the two button mouse system, I found it worked better for me personally.

    After a few hours, it will become 2nd nature to you... I did like WoWs movement though...

    Does anyone feel the toons are kind of slow and sluggish unto themselves?

    I played UO as my first mmo. The last mmo I played was Age of Conan which was brutal. So no I'm feeling like we are slow and sluggish.

    Is it just me or do any of you feel like we are slow?

    Running from place to place does feel like it takes a long time, I chalk it up to being used to having a mount to go everywhere in other games.

    I agree a sprint option would be a nice tweak, maybe one that draws from your bar so you have to be sparing with it and cautious in case you run headlong into an enemy without any oomf left in you for a fight. I can't help but feel the jump is very clumsy as well. Jumping over the smallest obstacle feels like I'm wearing lead boots or a pair 3 sizes too big :)

    The only way I move is with both mouse buttons, which is the way I like it cause I can control the camera and my movement all in one motion, plus it makes turning much faster which is crucial sometimes in pvp, also leaves me a free hand to use my ability keys. I just double tap W when I want to sprint also.
