I could understand invisible walls as plot elements like with the Geisterseelenwall that needs to be disabled but this is a cave which has more than enough real stone walls - why the invisible wall here? I checked the scene and here's my assessment: This is "as designed." It looks like the original worldbuilder had the idea to make the cavern look even more expansive by letting you see through massive holes into adjacent caverns. However, this was just an atmospheric quality and he didn't want to build out those caverns, so he blocked them off those distant caverns. This is similar to how above-ground areas use "tree walls" to block players from going outside the playspace.
