    Gaia's heart artifact can only be equipped in off-hand. Per Chris' blog:

    04/25/2017
    Fixed Gaia's Heart so it can be used in either hand.

    You're right, Chris' blog did say that. And it was originally intended to be changed to that.
    However, it was discovered that this could not be done due to some other issues it caused, so we had to undo Chris' change.
    For now it is intended to be an offhand item. I'm sorry about that.
