Chat ding: Great, but needs to smart know I'm paying attention

    Otherwise it's going to be BLOOP BLOOP BLOOP BLOOP BLOOP BLOOP BLOOP!

    And once someone turns it off, they will never turn it back on.

    Plus griefing.

    So it needs to know "Oh, Vlad has responded to that person in the last 5 or 10 seconds, I don't need to bloop him at the moment."

    Or something similar.

    @Paulie Walnuts and I were trying it out, and even 1 to 1 it was obvious that it would get overwhelming/annoying/off fairly quickly. Imagine talking with a couple people.

    I tried to make it subtle enough to where it wouldn't be bothersome (think messaging app pings); it is also tied to your UI audio slider so you can reduce the volume further. Making the ping content aware is a bit more engineering time and likely wont happen for a bit.

    So is this controlled by he UI volume slider? If so, it won't be useful to me because I hate those random beeps from moving windows around, they're immersion breaking for me. I refuse to turn them on, even for something useful like this. I still haven't had a chance to go into QA yet, but I don't have anyone to send me whispers anyhow.

    Part of the problem is being on when someone else is on. I haven't even had a chance to do QA yet, what with family issues last week, the stream Friday, and finally catching up on some double XP crafting. And someone should be able to answer the question anyhow without me having to get into QA.

    You can disable the notification sound with an specific option. The volume is controllable through the sounds option slider.

    I don't like the idea of mass disabling them, then we're all just going to have them disabled.

    A notification that I've got a message from someone the first time lets me know it's there and to respond, after that I don't need them to beep at me again unless they haven't sent me a message in like 5 minutes or something. The rest of the time I am part of the conversation and thus don't need a reminder.

    I am not disabling it. Why would there be a mass disable? Only because you are disabling it?
    Not sure why there is such a fuzz about something that was not there in the first place, and now its there as something extra.
    Do note: I do not disagree with you about the creating some smart notification algorithm there. That would even be better, and hopefully they have it on the list for in the future.

    By mass disable I mean "I disabled it, so now don't hear it, en mass." Not everyone. Mistype on my part.

    You have it backwards, I want to disable all UI sounds except this one. I don't want silly little beeps and clicks and swooshes every time I move windows around. It's not just immersion-breaking for the UI to draw attention itself with sounds, it's annoying to me. That's why I have my UI volume slider set to zero. But if the whisper notification sound is behind this same slider, then I'll just have to live without it.

    The dings go through a UI audio source so until we come up with a better solution it will be tied to the UI volume slider.

    Just talk with 3 people at the same time to find out why.
