That's the path the devs are taking, so it's the one we're stuck with. But the reason there's no balance is because of the path taken, it's not because balance is impossible. The devs could've put in a system where players could only hack at each other with a sword and shield. We could've balanced that rather quickly and then added more stuff after we balanced. But the devs chose to do what most teams do...add a bunch of stuff then try to balance, but also add a bunch more stuff stacked on top of that.

We're never going to balance the game doing that. Never.

That's my two cents. We'll have to agree to disagree and we can both hope that I'm wrong.

this is one of the reasons why i like focusing on basic combat actions and mechanics then add skills/abilities in later....
