Crafting animations -- (Dev) Replied

    I was wondering whether crafting, being such a deep part of game experience if it would have nice animations where you can see your avatar operating a blacksmith forge, much like in Skyrim. Or if crafting would simply be UI based.

    Sticking with the GUI option would be more cost effective but if the animations were kept simple in a similiar way they are in Skyrim I could possibly see some animation. It would be pretty nice.

    Yes atleast something that would be handled at the Skyrim level of animations in crafting would be nice, instead of just standing in front the "crafting stations" like in some mmos and you simply create the same sort of items in a repeated pattern just to progress in a grinding fashion where it becomes tedious to do.

    yeah the only thing preventing animation would be how 'expensive' it would be to make them. They would need different animations for every craft/workstation.. and making a smooth transition into and out of those animations. Skyrim does a pretty good job of this I think. It's also very possible that this is already planned for crafting. We just haven't heard about it.. probably because nobody is really asking about it yet in the live chats.

    Unless they supply us with a final rigged model (or at least a rigged skeleton for the model) then it's really not feasible.

    We want to have a bunch of awesome animations to support crafting. We will have to wait to see if it make sense from a bang-for-buck perspective. We want to make sure we give you the best game possible and I currently see extensive crafting animations as a second tier priority.

    We have talked about trying to crowd source models and animations but like @Bowen mentions, this is a much bigger and more complicated tasks than object models.
