Crag Mine Logout / Resume anomaly

Logged off while in the Crag mine on level 1
Logged back in an hour later, selected Resume, and found myself at the bottom of the shaft from the lich room to the gem cave on level 4. The ladder appeared broken since the entrance to the ladder in the lich cave hadn't been cleared.
Since there was no way I was going to through 2 liches and 3 ghosts in 1 piece, I just logged out and returned to the world map.
When I logged off, I was mining in one of the rooms off the corridor with the shaft of light at the entrance from the main level 1 cave.
