Crashing while mining

I have 2 characters that I mine with regularly. Each has a pet. I'll log into Serpent's Spine mine and maybe mine for 15 minutes. Game will crash. Sometimes while fighting, sometimes while mining, sometimes while just standing there doing nothing.

Hmm. Must be time to change characters. Log in to Verdantis with a different character and follow almost exactly the same procedure. Each character has an obsidian wolf but neither needs to be doing anything.

Interestingly, if I am fighting neither I, nor my pet, ever die as a result. When I come back either the fight starts back up, I'm at the beginning of the scene if I waited too long, or I'm in the same location but creatures have respawned.
Currently this can happen for hours on end and I'll crash 15+ times in a session if willing to sit at computer that long.

Very frustrating.

Same issue in Serpent Spine mine on level 1.
Chest mimic pet active
Crashed mining .. after resuming the vein of ore I was mining was visible but not recognized as a mineable resource.
Crashed fighting just as I died. Logged right back in resurrected at the onkh and had the death penalty.
