[Expected]Fire fist not reliable

details: I have firefist at level 63, and Ive noticed a lot that despite seeing in combat that firefist hit the mob, unlike icefist, or fire arrow, which produce the initial damage and then the additional slow or damage over time, firefist rarely triggers the damage over time. Initially I thought it had a % chance, but it doesnt say it does, Im sure it used to.

steps: firefist something, most times, it does not trigger the dot.

 

I will submit this to the team for review, @liz_the_wiz. Hopefully we can get some clarification on how the skill should be working.

 

I was hoping 536 would see me saying this works now, but no, still the same.. (as an FYI)

 

This is actually behaving by design.
"Close range fire attack with a chance of fire damage over time"

Unfortunately, we have chosen to obscure the chance value, but it is correctly not being applied 100% of the time.

 

Thanks @Attenwood but as Im nearing now to 79 skill in firefist, I would expect to see it land more than 1 in 12-15 attempts.

By that, its not just that the dot doesnt land, I see litterally no mention of it missing or hitting

 

@Attenwood as update to this, you need to be using ranged weapon, and have a fire reach skill of 0 so basic.. ice lands, earth lands, fire does not. The DOT may not stick, i get that, but the damage logs suggest firefist itself is not impacting damage on strike like it suggests it should
