Fictional book about Quest of the Avatar

    In the mid 90s someone let me borrow a book that was written as a novel about the Avatar going through Ultima IV. Inside there were pieces such as what the Avatar felt when he started looting Lord British's treasure room. I really enjoyed reading it and almost throughout the whole thing I had suspension of disbelief, which is so rare for me these days. But I can't remember the title of the book or who wrote it. I would like to get my hands on it again. Does anyone remember this?
