Fighitng a Small Wolf Spider should not be able to web me step out of range and still hit me . . . .

Ok this is a Small Wolf Spider, how is it that it can reach me with its physical attack but I cannot hit it with my Battle Axe or Shield, sorry but that is WAY out of whack.

No way shold it be able to web me, take a step back and still hit me, I canot even imaging what would happen to me if I was fighitn a lare one :-(
