Fire Warding...

I can learn Fire Warding at the Water Trainer.

It gives +1 Fire Resistance and - 1 Fire Attunment.

As far as I read Attunment does not only make one better at casting but also at resisting that school of magic.

So, would I gain Fire Resistance only to lose Fire Resistance due to lower attunement?

 

Basically, warding is for people who won’t be using spells in the effected element. So, if you train Fire Warding, your Fire spells will be weakened by the lower Fire Attunment.

A good example of such use is the player Sara Dreygon, they use no magic at all.

Do note, not all creatures you assume are using a Fire attack at you, are doing actual Fire damage. It’s Physical Damage. For example, the Fire Elementals in the Verdantis Mines have attacks that are physical damage.

 

yes, but the math for resistance from attunement is such that you gain more than you lost.

 

1 Fire resistance = 2 Fire Attunement

So +1 Fire resistance - 1 Fire attunement = Net 0.5 Fire resistance GAIN.

 

I have 8 fire skills at 100, Fire Proof and Ignite Weapon at 120 (mostly just for effect but it does to a bit of damage) and fire warding at 80. I really wish there were an air spell similar to Ignite Weapon. That would be the shiznit.

[edit] Oh yeah, I also use a fire shrine to get an extra 15 fire attunement. All in, I have 39 fire attunement.

 

This is one of the easy fixes that would help the game a lot.

Dragons' fire attacks are physical too iirc.
