[Fixed 68230] Body Slam and Engage Opponent result in running in place when used

    Once you have some how rooted an opponent and you use body slam.......your toon just runs in place. This has been like this for at least the last 3 release and probably longer. I've heard that this as effected other skills as well. I've bug reported this before so please see if we can get this fixed for the next release.

    The "run in place" bug doesn't require root to be cast beforehand , it just happens about half the time I try to use it period.
    And yes, this bug has been around for the best part of a year now.

    Have had this issue also for awhile, even without them being rooted. seems to happen alot when in a party and someone is engaged with the enemy.

    Anything, and I do mean anything, from a blade of grass on up will cause this when attempting to use body slam.

    Although if I'm honest and lagging I have somehow managed to body slam mobs behind boxes and wagons which I assume is just because I'm somehow desynced.

    There must be something else about this behavior.
    I use Body Slam a couple of hundred times per day and never ever had any problems, except against practice dummies, that seems broken to me.

    I have seen this also, but idk if its a bug, cause if you are the perfect distance from your target will work everytime, but maybe it is a bug, idk.

    When you are in range the glyph highlights so you can time it or you can keep hitting the glyph till you are in range. You won't run on the spot till you are in range.
    It can happen to me on my empty lot against my dummy, no other players, no obstacles, no spells or other glyphs in use with Body Slam and Engage Opponent.
    You can jump to stop the running motion but you won't get Body Slam or Engage Opponent to work when you retry you will only run on the spot.
    It makes trying to use them pointless as you are, in effect, rooted by your own action making you an easy target.
    I would very much like it to be fixed please as they are essential for engaging archers who have the upper hand in any case.

    It's definitely when targets are rooted. There's multiple ways to root however so you may not realize the target is 'rooted'. Impale (polearms), root (earth), and a couple others that will result in a 'rooted' effect. Target dummies I believe are by default 'rooted' which is what causes Body slam and Engage Opponent to not work against training dummies. This has been broken for a VERY long time and I wish they would fix it already.

    Charge (shield) is also broken, which makes sense since it has a similar mechanic as Body Slam. I get the 'running in place' animation regularly when I try to charge a barbarian who is already rooted by a spider in East Sanctus Forest.

    this affects mobs with charge too: i'll sometimes see a boar in ulfheim running in place because it started charging a stag but the stag died from its rend before the boar completed the charge.

    In my experience the target doesn't have to be rooted. I've had it using shield charge, engage opponent or body slam as my first encounter. Cos that's what I do ;-)

    This issue is still present in build 1309 and is 100% reproducible:

    1. Have a combat deck with the root and bodyslam or engage opponent skills in combat bar.
    2. Stand near a Practice Dummy or Practice Target.
    3. Click Bodyslam or Engage Opponent skill.
    4. Player will now run in place forever until player presses the space bar.

    1. Have a combat deck with the root and bodyslam or engage opponent skills in combat bar.
    2. Stand near a rooted creature like Redthorn Flower.
    3. Click Bodyslam or Engage Opponent skill.
    4. Player will now run in place forever until player presses the space bar.

    1. Have a combat deck with the root and bodyslam or engage opponent skills in combat bar.
    2. Stand near a mobile creature like Large Arctic Wolf.
    3. Click Root skill on Large Arctic Wolf. Click Bodyslam or Engage Opponent skill.
    4. Player will now run in place until the root skill goes away and the creature gets within combat range.

    This isn't currently listed in the Known Issues page.

    Details: Trying to use Body Slam on a MOB that is webbed by your pet results in my character running in place and body slam not taking affect.
    Steps to Reproduce: Go into combat with a spider pet, allow the pet to web the MOB then use body slam on the webbed MOB.
