[Fixed 71249] Fishing Expedition, rowboat

    Details:When observing the small rowboat from above, e.g. from the Galleon, it is not floating on the waves but completely stationary. Which is a problem, because every few seconds the moving waves when on a high, move through the wood of the boat, which looks like it would be running full of water, and then vanish again when the wave underneath is on low.

    Thanks for the report! Issue #71249

    Here's how this works: Floating boats and other objects don't actually rest on the surface of the water, and the height of the waves is irrelevant to the bobbing effect. There's no connection between the two. Floaters will bob up and down, but this effect stops when an avatar stands on or close to the floating object. We don't allow the bobbing to continue while an avatar is on (or about to get on) a floating object because the avatar won't bob along with the object and it would look really bad. I sounds like you're close enough to stop the bobbing effect, which is why it stopped. We try to pick a height for floaters so they appear to be floating on the surface of the water, but sometimes the waves can have higher-than-normal waves which will sometimes clip into the bottom of the boat. If we're lucky, we can just raise the height of the boat to fix these visuals, but sometimes the only fix is to reduce the height of the waves or remove the boat completely. I'll take a look and try making the best fix.

    Heisenberg´s Uncertainty principle - I can´t measure location or movement at the same time when oberving. Either the boat moves when I´m distant enough or it is stationary when I´m too close. Observation changes the rules of the observed...

    Suggestion: The boat is only there to insinuate that people get on board and from board to the island that way. Simply hang the boat at the rigging on the other side of the ship where the side-boat usually is lowered to the sea and instead use a net or pilots ladder to climb up from swimming to the ship.
    And instead of the fixed ladder going up from the rowboat use a pilots ladder the whole way

    I checked the boat and saw that it's hull is "thin" and easily allows the water to clip through it. Our more common rowboats and dinghies have extra thickness to the floor of the boats, allowing the water to clip through an unseen area. I swapped the current boat with one of our more common ones. I also made the nearby ladder into a 2-way version.

    That pilot's ladder is pretty cool. I wish we had one in the game. It's especially interesting because of it's flexibility and it feels like I can use it as a modular object, and could bend and extend it at-will.

    The pilots ladder I linked is probably too modern anyway. However simply hanging a net over the side of the ship for people to climb up from the sea to board the ship exists since the Age of Sail.

    Details: When standing on the board above the rowing boat one can see a lower deck at the rear end of the ship. It appears to be a simple thing - just drop down to that deck. However this rear deck behind the Galleon is not solid - when trying to fall down onto or jump onto, one falls down through the wooden boards.

    The new rowboat appeared in Fishing Expedition. The waves no longer pass through the boat so it does not longer appear to run full of water.
    Not a bug but merely taste: The rowboat looks too "shiny". Like a new boat and that in saltwater. A slightly more weathered look would fit better.
