@Alley Oop Is there any progress on this? It seems as if Canticle is draining focus from the target and not the caster, which has, in conjunction with Torpid Torment from the Chaos Tree, created some pretty serious issues with Bard DPS, aside from just no focus loss penalty for the caster.

Yeah, it's like the focus damage penalty a player would get if hit with torpid torment in a pvp fight every time they use focus is being amplified and doing damage to mobs because the focus penalty for canticle is backwards and affecting the mobs, if that makes sense. So I think what's happening is the mobs are getting damaged from "using focus" when torpid is on them and they get hit with a canticle.

okay, this is a LOT more complicated than the original report, and i thought at first you just meant takes focus from the target in pvp. this is affecting mobs? give me steps to reproduce.

Well, you saw the focus loss on your dueling partner when you used a canticle, now torpid them and then cast the canticle. Because you take damage from torpid torment every time you use focus, if you have torpid torment on you and get that backwards focus drain penalty from canticle, you should be seeing a large damage hit.

If you look at that Twitch clip, any time the canticle hits with torpid torment active, but specifically at :53, you can see the double hit. Either the 650 number is the canticle and the 1,400 the focus damage from torpid, or maybe the other way, around, but either way, the player in the video only cast canticle which is a one-hit spell and got two damage hits from it, with no AOE or other DOT going that would account for the damage. If you go back to around :39, you can see the torpid torment wears off just before the canticle is cast, and there's only one damage hit for 630, which is about what I'd expect from a normal canticle with that size focus pool.

Here are your steps to reproduce @Alley Oop

    1. Cast Torpid Torment on mobs (any mob, but demons have high resistance vs Chaos magic so it usually fails against them)
    2. Cast Concussive Canticle
    3. Read chat logs and notice mobs are taking damage from Canticle + Chaotic Feedback (which is Torpid Torment in disguise)

Lemme know if you need more info
