Friends not showing online but they are

    I got a message about the "instance" being full and did I want to join another. I said "no".

    A few minutes later, I checked my friends list. I know there were 7 people in my guild online. But there was NO ONE showing online. I could chat to them and they responded. But they weren't on my list any longer. I logged out and back in and it fixed the issue.
