Has anyone done any crazy math resting to try and figure out what the difference it?

    10 Gemmed = 1 Iron Ingot + 100 Gem Frags + 2 Chunks of Coal
    5 Heavy = 1 Meteoric Iron Ingot + 200 Gem Frags + 2 Chunks of Coal

So simply overall they are 4 - 5 times more costly to make, simply based off of the resources needed to make them.

However when I have used them there is zero change to % chance. Lava Fishing is Lava fishing?

I know a few who have fished with nothing but Heavy and sure they have caught a few of the Rare ones, but while I am fishing the # of Ammonites vs Anomalocaris seems to appear the same?

I know I have seen Fast Moving Lava and slower places but ???

We can guess all we want and I am working on test for the diff in the Skill itself and not recorded data for this yet?

So basically if you have crunched and number what have you found.

Yeah Baits don't seem to make any sense atm. It's broken, more or less. Just use minnows and regular lures. Hell, use worms.

I don’t think any of the special baits work currently.

The only difference between gem and heavy gem lures I've noticed, is that I've only "caught" sulfurous ash with the gem lure-- never with the heavy.

I've tried a mixture of both gemmed and heavy and noticed no difference. the rare mosasaurus i caught was with a regular gem lure.

I started saving all my rare baits on the off chance it will get fixed / implemented properly for an upcoming release.

Same here. I just place them in a chest and leave them there.

I might try a few tests with them on the test server. I’ll just use a standard pole, because that will count to 100 for you accurately. And 100 tries is certainly a good sample size for testing.

All mine sit in a chest, hoping one day they will be useful. Perhaps a few years from now the last fishing pass will be completed.

Minnows actually make you catch more clothing. That’s the only difference between the 2 (the last time I checked).

I ran an informal test the other day in a fresh water POT. Using prosperity rod and 10 each worms, minnows, and hoppers. Minnows seemed to catch more fish than worms but same trophy %. Hoppers caught same numbers as minnows but got more trophy fish.

Bigger trophy fish almost always came from minnows but that is what I use most of the time.

Over a period of time, special baits will get you more trophy fish. There are several folks who have tested this during the longer fishing events. I have tested this myself as well. I only use them for periods of time where I'm going to be fishing for a long time.
