How about a greenhouse with a sprinkler system to water plants? You would need to activate the sprinklers and it would take the water from your inventory but it would save a few steps and could be a big seller in the crown store.
So practically like a New York High House with a water tank on top that you first would have to fill with buckets of water (so that you do not save money) which then is distributed automatically? That would still make the watering skill useless that allows you to water a growing radius of plants.
More like you open a valve and it takes the water from your inventory, which is what I said in the original post. Watering skill could determine how many buckets it could possibly take, or even lower the chance to use them.
With the high XP granted by farming I feel like removing the time/effort sink of watering would make this product akin to exchanging cotos for producer XP.
no, xp is given AT watering harvesting. the amount at that time is calculated from the number of waterings done.
You said "xp is given AT watering", which is what tripped me up. Anyway, my suggestion would have no effect on how long it takes to grow and harvest your plants or give anyone a shortcut to more experience. It would only save some time watering.
you're right, typo. fixed. ...which means you could grow a LOT more because there wouldn't be a time commitment.
Compare these two situations looking at a moderately sized farm: Plant a field (30mins) First water (30mins) Second water (30mins) Third water (30mins) Harvest (30mins) The 2.5 hours spent in that situation will get you 900XP per plant (100 seeding + 800 harvest) in single XP. Plant a field (30mins) First water (automatic) Second water (automatic) Third water (automatic) Harvest (30mins) In this situation the proposed automatic sprinkler lets us earn that same 900XP per plant for only 1 hour of work, instead of 2.5 hours. Any player who splashed out the cotos for these sprinklers could earn 250% as much XP per hour spent farming as someone who did not.
