    Hi,

I just got a new PC. I play Offline. I want to move the game from my old machine to my new one.

I tried just copying "C:\Program Files (x86)\Portalarium\Shroud of the Avatar" to the new machine and running "Shroud of the Avatar - Launcher.exe", but it's not finding my character.

    How do I do this?

The folder you need is saved games but you can copy these files in this folder from the old computer to the new and it will bring everything over

Thanks, but that didn't work either.

I also exported and imported "[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Portalarium\Shroud of the Avatar]" from the old PC to the new PC, no change.

It still just takes me to the screen asking me to create a new character.

    So far I've tried:
    1. copy over "C:\Program Files (x86)\Portalarium\Shroud of the Avatar" and "%appdata%\Portalarium\Shroud of the Avatar"
    2. install clean copy of SoTA, then copy over on top the two directories (above)
But every time I start, it takes me to the "Mirror" scene to create a new character.

Any other suggestions? Surely people do this all the time, right?

That really should be the process, do you still have the old PC up and running?

It should be in your %appdata% folder. Can you not move the drive that has that info installed from your old machine to your new one? That would be the quick and easy way of getting it done, but maybe not the most practical.

-> Yes, and it works fine there.
-> Yes, definitely copying "Portalarium" to "Roaming".

There is definitely more going on here. I did this:
    - create new character, close SotA
    - delete "%appdata%\Roaming\Portalarium\Shroud of the Avatar" and re-copy the same directory from the old machine
    - launch SoTA -- it still is finding the new character I created!

I've deleted and re-copied "C:\Program Files (x86)\Portalarium\Shroud of the Avatar" and "%appdata%\Roaming\Portalarium\Shroud of the Avatar" at least 6-7 times, but it won't work.

If any devs can shed some light, or point me to better troubleshooting techniques, I'd appreciate it.

let it create the new char and then use the load button rather than resume

It's possible you're not using the default data path location as it's configurable via settings, type "/datafolder" in game on the old PC to open the folder and check there are save files in the SavedGames folder and copy from there.

-> Thanks, but I ran /datafolder, and confirmed it's "%appdata%\Roaming\Portalarium\Shroud of the Avatar"

-> THAT DID IT! Thanks @Alley Oop.

Apparently SoTA auto-saves your game progress someplace other than "%appdata%\Roaming\Portalarium\Shroud of the Avatar\SavedGames".

So, I explicitly saved my game on the old PC, copied that .sota file over to the new machine, did a "Load" rather than "Resume", and now I'm back in business.

I am curious, if anyone knows, where your game progress for Offline is stored. I tried using Process Monitor (from SysInternals) to try and reverse engineer it, but I wasn't able to figure it out.
