Hi, Straight forward question, have been away from the game a while and I know that stealing was discussed earlier. Has it been introduced and if it has been how do I steal, from NPC and other players?
The dev's have lightly touched on this, but it definitely will not be in episode one. We hope by episode 2 there will stealing and thievery.
Since the game is not open-loot, stealing from other players would be over-powered. Maybe some form of non-NPC stealing will be implemented in later episodes (NPC-stealing is no problem I imagine), though the list of things to be considered "for later episodes" is long enough to wrap around all of New Britannia twice.
stealing most likely would be in pvp specific zones or if a person is flagged for pvp. Then the consent would be given for theft.
I like thieves, and will be a thief if possible in SotA. My two cents on stealing: Thieves should be fully lootable if caught and killed. Moreover, if thieves are caught (say by guards in town), they should be jailed for a period of time. Failure should be punished in a real way. Only excellent thieves should be allowed success in the game, to minimize harassment/griefing from petty thieves. Items associated with a pledge and store-bought (meaning Add-on Store) items should be non-stealable. Everything else should be open for theft.
oh great ... a thieves den! roles eyes .... just kidding lol. Some of my fondest memories of uo were playing a thief, it was a challange for sure, reaching that gm status on hide and steal was far more satisfying than reaching 100 in any other skill. The commradery was top notch too! there really was honer amongst thieves, oh how I mis the days of lurking around the bucs den prettending to be an npc with my disguise kit ......
