How do we make leather?

The basic recipes on the tanning table require leather but I do not know how to make leather

There is a vendor in the building behind the Skill Trainer (or by Myra, whichever) that sells all the recipes, if you don't want to work them out yourself.

I believe the recipe you are looking for is :

2 Hides 4 Hides
1 Chunk of Salt
1 Tanning Knife

 

Thanks for the Information! I was pretty close but only tried one hide.

I actually like to figure out the recipes. But I found it a little discouraging as a new player not to have the very basics required to start crafting and experimenting with.

Not having leather availble as an initial recipe seems like a bit of a road block for new players to get started crafting.

If you want the in game version then we will be able to share and copy recipes down the line.
Right now you can go to Owl's head, and the small market next to the horse and the crafting tables - in one of the houses behind the merchants you will find someone who sells recipes - for 250g each. Down the line those prices will change depending on the tier.

If you want the out of game thing, then for everything that seems "obvious" to you from a RP or conveniance point of view then I'd use the community tools:

Got back on and tried this one. Does not seem to work

I may have save up and buy the recipe.

Still dont thing this is going to be good for new players. A new player will not know about the place to buy them or the online guides. Seems like this strating material would have a recipe in the beginning book to allow them to get started on learning to craft. I may make a request thread to have leather be one of the starting recipes.


Edit: Bought the recipe and it is
4x hides
1 chunk of salt
1 tanning knife

for those new players that want to know and get started without the initial aggravation.

Cool, thanks for the correction there, I was working from memory, which obviously is a bit lacking.

 

I tried 4x hide, 1x salt chunk 1x tanning knife and it doesn't work for me.
about 2 hours just to make some leather, frustrating

 

looks like I am downloading a patch again now.. but that is what worked for me earlier today.

But yeah... I was going through the same thing earlier.

I will check my recipe book when can log back in.

 

yup... this is what I have in my book.

If you have tried and are missing things then maybe try to restart the client and try again.

I have had an issue like that before. seemed like there was invisable stuff that i lost mixed in. So recipes where not working.

 

Thx fo ryour help I restarted client and now it works, but now I have a new problem
Trying to craft Supple Leather, I have raw cotton in my inventory but the system is not detecting it.

 

not real sure about that.

But one thing I have noticed is that there are multiple kinds of raw cotton.

1 looks differnt.

and two look the same but seem two have different vendor values.

Maybe that has something to do with your issue?

I think one is ment to be a better quality or something. Kind of like a more rare one or something.

This has been reported in the bug forums.

As has the "Supple Leather" issue.

 

I don't usually give up , I don't like to, but I have spent a lot of hours just to make a simple piece of leather.
Its alpha state I understand we are here to test things, but honestly its the recipe coming as example in your crafting book
if that one is not working what comes next?????
2 different raw cotton sounds way too weird to me. I feel I'm wasting my time here.
