    Hi All

Tell me please, how to measure game performance: e.g. FPS and PING?

I'm from Russia and the game has many and considerable lags both in responding to my actions and in updating screen image speed.

My PC and the internet connection is good, but I just can't enjoy the game...
I'm not sure is it because of the current game status or is it caused by my location?

Will the problems remain after the game will be finished?
I'd like to know what are the problems before upgrading my pledge.

    Thank you in advance! :)

    Germany.
Ping is ok. Performance is ok as well.
I got a really good pc but still get problems if there are too many people in screen.

    Thanks!
What ping value do you have?
How can I measure it to differ ping-related lags from poor fps performance?

What is the game server IP to ping it?

I am at work so i can't tell you right now.

    About fps/ping:
Pings above 300-350 usualy cause problems.
Pings above 400 usualy start to be unplayable.
    Low fps is always bad.
If you have both issues its sometimes hard to tell the difference.

FPS performance will likely improve a bit before release because the game is still not optimized.

Ping is somewhat what it is.

SotA's architecture is nice in that everyone in the world sees the same persistence and play with anyone in the world on the same server. But it is also bad in that players in Asia/Australia and the like are likely to see some high ping with US servers.

    Yes.
And that can have multiple reasons.
Some of them portalarium can't change.
E.g. if the problem is on the side of your ISP.

Currently only a single server located in Arizona. They will evaluate the need for regional servers to improve latency closer to launch.

I don't have the server host/ip names handy but will update later so you can run some pings or traceroutes to it if you suspect network/isp issues.

Wow, you skipped out on Africa completely! ;)

South Africa here. I have a decent pc set up, but the ping kills the game for me every now and then. Not much I can do about it but wait for a time when the connection improves.

    Well,

I get about 200ms ping at work (optic-fiber)
and about 250ms ping at home (ADSL)

Not very bad, I expected the worst.
    :)

I notice the lag, having a 200-300 ms latency is a bit different from the usual gaming latency I have. People twitch and teleport occasionally :D
There's been talk about a server in Europe... got my fingers crossed!

You can test your ping times and run traceroutes to identify if there's any connection issue between you and the SotA servers:

    patchserver.shroudoftheavatar.com / 64.150.184.223
    gameserver.shroudoftheavatar.com / 64.150.184.227

The problem is that there's only one game server and it's in the US. They have talked about the idea of having more a launch.

Splitting away from the idea of everyone in one persistent world, or somehow more like CDN servers?

Good question, sorry I should've been more precise considering "selective multiplayer". I think Chris mentioned at one point there was ONE server now during testing and they might get more if it looks like they need to (which it does for launch). I'm just guessing here, but I think that may mean that everyone remains in the same world but some tasks would be handled by different servers?

I'm assuming you could still have one major persistent world where player housing, economy and the like all has to bounce back to the main US server, but that stuff is just cached regionally and it doesn't need to talk to US servers every two seconds. But then regional servers around the world are just handling instancing for players in that region.

Where it would get weird is if I want to play with guild members who are in the EU. If the majority of the party in a scene is in the US, then the instance resides on a US server and for that particular scene the EU player is forced to talk to the US server and gets latency. But when not grouped with us, they gte an instance on an EU server.

I get lagged on occasions but then I'm used to that as I live on an island in the middle of the Pacific. Probably equally far from any server:D It's still not as bad as some games I have tried.
