Details: If you leave the Battle of Solace Bridge without getting Edvard's notes, Stanley will ask for them ad you get a pop to give them to him. Since I forgot to get them, I figured I could go back to Solace Bridge (not the Battle of Solace Bridge) and see if I could get them from Edvard. I talked to him but couldn't trigger anyway to have Edvard give me the notes. When you talk to Edvard, he thinks you delivered the notes.
Steps:
- choose the way of the bow from Isle of Storms
- go to Battle of Solace Bridge
- get through the Battle but don't get the notes from Edvard
- take the boar to Soltown
- talk to Stanley
- you don't have the notes so cancel the window
- leave Soltown
- go to Solace Bridge
- go through the scene and get to Edvard
- talk to Edvard
- he responds as if he gave you the notes previously and that they were delivered ("Welcome back. I am pleased you were able to ... deliver my notes to good Stanley)
- tell him 'help' hoping to get the notes
- you don't get the notes
- try notes and Stanley that doesn't work only

Yes, I was able to leave the scene. I will verify though that I didn't have the notes even thought I didn't talk to Edvard about getting them. I made an assumption I didn't have them since I never triggered that quest by talking to Edvard and using the keywords to trigger the quest.

 

@Attenwood, I just went back to see what happens. The end result is no notes from Edvard to give to Stanley when I hit Soltown.

Here's the steps I just did:
- fight with Edvard to get over the bridge
- at the other side of the bridge, double click Edvard to speak to him
- he give syou the spiel aobut helping him and you get the experience points for this part of the quest
- one keyword is highlighted, boat
- DO NOT click on the keyword. since I don't have the Enable Closeup converssations enabled, I just turn and leave
- Double click the boat to leave the scene (at this point the boat is activated so I am able to leave the scene. If I don't talk to Edvard I can use the boat to leave the scene
- When you arrive in Soltown check your inventory for the notes from Edvard. You won't have the notes to give to Stanley.
- And if you go back to talk to Edvard, you see the actions and convo described above.
