[Info needed] Can only place Candles and Candelabras in a few spots in my house

Since R40 I'm unable to place candles or candelabras in most of my house except the basement- I get the message "You cannot place this item here because it is a light source and would be too near other light sources". I tried removing nearby light sources and then couldn't replace those resulting in the same message.

 

Light source radius seems to be going through walls, among other things.

 

@Zeetocht Can you tell me what type of house you have? And could you give me a couple screenshots of where you're trying to place the candles?

 

Same thing happens with all light sources in row houses, can not even replace existing light sources!

 

The problem is that there is logic that will not allow you to place a light source if it's too close to another light source, even if that other light source is on another floor. This is in addition to the light limit that you already have on your lot and it's very confusing because there's absolutely no feedback other than you can't place a light source.

You can work around this by removing nearby light sources that have a large light radius (like candelabras, wall torches, etc), placing your new light and then replacing the old light.

 

I haven't checked in R40, but in the last couple of releases the candelabras were blocking the placement of deco on the floors above. We had to pull them all up, do the deco and then go back and put them down again.
