When playing the full two octaves (1-8 keys unmodified then SHIFT 2-7), the piano, lute and harp all climb in tone smoothly through the two octaves.

With the flute and the accordion, there is a shift in tone, and not a smooth transition between octaves between the 7 and the 8 keys. This shift happens twice each time 8 is pressed (8 then shift-8)

Spectral analysis: The red arrows indicate the 8 and shift-8 tones; you can see it is not a smooth climb in tone

For reference, two proper sounding octaves of the flute.
