just to understand if the freezes are something overclock-related issues...
i'm playing sota with a very poor configuration...
using a dual core Phenom (unlocked to 4 cores)
overclocking an old radeon HD6670 1 Gbyte (with GDDR5 and not GDDR3)

    reflashed Radeon HD6670 bios (GDDR5)
    reflashed Asrock BIOS
reinstalled all drivers (old - new - beta)
    removed all overclock settings

    launched SOTA launcher and:

resuming... and game crashed when entering on Mediolanum city. (i have not seen anything on 3d... not yet)

with the -D3D9 option i played sota for 1 year without issues... at 35-40 frames in a windowed client.

I am running a 6970 with 2GB RAM on default settings and it takes me some time to load into any city area. Once I have given it enough time to load textures, it keeps FPS min 40 and usually 60-90 full screen 1900x1020x120hz. So you should get similar performance on Good or lower video settings.

@Gatsu Thank you for mentioning that the game does not work for you in POT Mediolanum.
That kind of information might be crucial for devs.
If you encounter any other POTs which do not work for you, please list them also.

I was running here and there in POT Mediolanum for 10 minutes and talking to few NPCs.
I resumed to POT Mediolanum for 2 times.

However, it is worth mentioning that I started getting incredibly high VRAM usage while running around in POT Mediolanum.

i 've do some experiments.. and seems that the Cloth Simulation increase the chance of crashes...
    Mischievous Dragon

can you try (if you have time) to add this flag on Mediolanum? the zone of the devotionals when i can see players houses is the best part to have a crash.

Turning off cloth physics reduced your chance to crash?

if i set this function (the only flag on my video-settings) i have a lot of % to crash in some minutes (mediolanum city.. owl.. places where objects appears walking) i'm playing in single mode (no other players 3d models)

P.S. today i went using the OPENGL force flag (game not crashes on GLmode) to Brittany alleys .. and framerate dropped to 5/6.. memory usage went to 5 Gbyte.... (very huge) i was disconnected from scene. (but probably this can be another bug entry...)
