I'm confused. I always thought that parry was a type of block where you deflect it and damage them instead...

 

nope. a parry can lead to a riposte, but the parry itself is just the blocking part.

 

I must admit when I read the tooltip I just assumed that they changed the skill and I missed the patch note. I recall the skill being parry based (parry being on daggers/short swords etc) as opposed to block (shield skill). If it is parry based then the tooltip is wrong

 

Well, it was changed some awhile back - it was once used for damage resistance but now is a counter-attack based.
I've submitted a bug for this wording. Thank you.
