[Known]Weapon skills do not hit correct number of targets

    • Issue:
      • Weapon skills do not hit expected number of targets
    • Impact:
      • Player is frustrated by perception of buggy combat, skills and items not working as expected.
    • Version:
      • R37 build 524
      • Has been observed in earlier builds on this release
    5. Steps to Reproduce:
    • Action:
      • Use a melee weapon skill
    • Expected result:
      • Unless explicitly stated in the tool tip, expect to hit up to the same number of mobs a normal attack would hit
    • Obtained result:
      • Hit one target, not the number in weapon tool tip.

    Basic attack with Polearm hit 2 of 2 valid targets

    Polearm attack puncture only hit 1 of 2 valid targets

    Basic attack with a 1h mace hits 2 of 2 valid targets

    1 handed mace attack, break armor only hit 1 valid target

    2h great axe, basic melee attack hit 3 of 3

    Bludgeon skill crushing blow hit 1 of 3 valid targets with great axe 2h.

    Basic melee attack with rusty 1h sword ( thanks dead skeletons from earlier tests! ) hit 2 of 2 valid targets.

    I was with his during his testing and would also like to add that only the following skills affects multiple targets with Polearm Combat:

    Auto-Attack
    Push
    Spinning Attack

    Everything else only hits 1 target

    So I had PM'd Atos on Discord chat to see if it was intended function for skills to only hit one target. He replied with a negative.... so this looks like a bug, not bad documentation.

    I've spoken with Atos re. this issue, and have confirmed that the system works the following way:

    As a rule of thumb, unless explicitly stated in the skill's tooltip, a skill will be applied to a single opponent regardless of the weapon used. This is for balancing purposes. For instance, if using "Coup de Grace" with a two-handed weapon, it should only hit one target, not three.

    Thanks for talking in chat with me about it as well. This made me and a couple friends think that some weapons were broken.

    So resolution time: Since unclear documentation is the issue the tool tips get updated. Might I suggest, perhaps having the target count noted in the skill even if it is a single target. This avoids a miss-understanding due to a lack of information on the skill.

    Oh and as game folks go, you guys are good. Please, keep making the wonderful game more wonderful.
