They cannot be lowered; there are a number of limitations here, one being that we cannot "break through terrain" at this time, so lowering them (like the platforms) would invade upon the lava itself (changing it from being waist deep to either not visible, or solid (where the Avatar would walk on top of it). We are working to improve the Lava Pools (as was discussed on the Livestream Friday), but in all cases, they will have to be elevated to some degree to allow for the depth immersion.
