Login Queue is awful

Why is it taking so long once you have a queue position for logins to be processed? I realize that after a new release where the server has been offline there is high demand, but the number of people in the queue should have no effect on how fast each login is processed.

and since all this forums and everything is on the same system any posts do not help

 

My login queue went from 321 to 45 and back to "Enter Game". Now I have to start over again. How do you prevent it from resetting? I'm guessing the game thinks you're afk since the queue is so long ;P

 

The other problem is it seems steam authentication has failed again, this happens a lot on each release, often takes 30min to an hour or more to get sorted, so the steam users wait through the queue only to get denied entry and have to get back in line, to get denied entry again, until it clears up

This always pumps the queue number up as well.

 

Been dealing with this for the past hour and counting...

 

The steam thing doesn't make sense. My husband and I are sat next to each other and we're both using steam. We clicked login around same time. He was in 157 and I was in 163.
He got in. I have gone from 163 to 1....4 times now, and have been sitting here for at least a half hour watching him play.
I understand the server's under a lot of strain or etc. but some people can clearly login ...I'm watching him chop a tree down as we speak. I want to chop trees! Let me in!

 

I'm on my 6th time going from 100+ down to single digits and my queue restarts to over 100+.

 

I'm just guessing, but it seems like the login queue/maximum world population is ratcheted down immediately after a new release. This allows them to monitor the performance and resource utilization for any unexpected spikes or problems.

As they get comfortable with what they see, they can raise the world population a little more and allow more people in while they continue to monitor.

Otherwise, if there were no limitations everyone would rush to the server at the same time and potentially take the system to it's knees if there is a problem.

 

Just did the same to me, tried logging in via Steam, watched the queue go from 170 to 1 and then immediately back to the login screen at a similar starting queue number.

I, too, would like to be chopping down some trees. Deforestation FTW!

Watching this queue go from 150 down to 1 and then back up again feels very similar to watching the smelting screen when I have loads of ingots to make. Its almost like I'm playing anyway.

 

Try login without steam credentials and see if that helps.

I'm just gonna go grab lunch now.

 

Yeah I just closed the game, gonna go out to eat instead. Happened to me 3 times in a row.

Go to steam library, go to Shroud of Avatar, Properties, Local Files, Browse Local Files, Double click Shroud of the avatar.exe

YOU DO NOT NEED TO GO RE-DOWNLOAD GAME TO LOGIN WITHOUT STEAM CREDS

 

yeah I hate to say this BUT i'm going to stay this. If Port can not handle (when I logged in I was 167 in queue) and it took me 30 mins to log in. If in 30 mins Port can not log in 167 people then we have MUCH bigger issues here.
