Small Update.
Lux Sanctuary is now a Crossroads Village.
There will be no further upgrades since that is the ideal size for Lux, don't want it too big.

 

It really is a nice size. I think it is in the Goldilocks zone, not too big, not too small.

 

I really think so. It's right in the middle between Kingsport and Owls head in size.
I've been running through those lots of times and I think Kingsport is a bit small, but Owl's Head is too big to get a close feel.

4 NPC houses sounds about right as well. I know what 2 will be, hoping for something for the 3rd and can be opened minded with the 4th.

But most importantly it fits with the concept of Lux.
For other concepts the ideal could be small or big. For people only wanting a place for them and their friends, then I think a crowd is too big, hamlet would be better. For what you and @Jatvardur are building I think bigger isn't an issue but rather a driver. Especially since size matters for location selection.

Hoping to see someone of your esteem doing visits later on.

 

You are right, it has the best feel. I would have stuck with one, or perhaps a town, but Jatvardur kept putting the pressure on me to upgrade. "Only losers have 4 NPC" "You get lost in Owl's Head, you are too scared to go metro." The taunts finally broke me and i did let the POT grow. (Just Kidding Dr. Jatvardur) I was going to stop at city size just to be different and get a secret underground holdfast lair, but the temptation for the extra 5 NPC was too great for me to resist. In truth it is not the feel I like. My heart lies in the size you described. " Kingsport is a bit small, but Owl's Head is too big to get a close feel" Still, im grateful that people are getting a variety of sizes for their player owned towns, im sure it will add to the richness of the world and overall player experience. I should like to visit Lux Sanctuary.

He is such a beast, you are too good for him. You should make a New Years resolution to stand up to him...(Kidding @Jatvardur is great).

The last upgrade between city and metro really is a bargain, I understand fully the temptation.
But if you have cold feet then I think that Portalarium would gladly help you split it back. This since you have truly backed this game. *salutes*

You can bring your own spare house when you do since you control the claim in your POT

If someone were to build the resource in the engine do you think it likely to get used? Not that I'm implying that I have the time, training or anything like that... but if I happen to find myself with WAY too much free time do you think they'd approve it or is it too specialized?

Also, would you have any design preferences for it, or just the typical open columned courtyard with a recessed pool utilizing 75% of the lot size, and most likely only ground floor?

 

I would not count on anything getting approved. I would suggest embarking on it for your own enjoyment and if they accept it, it will be icing on the cake.

At this point, do you still have land lot available for newcomer to place their home? I'm still torn between getting row or village land deed.

 

Yeah, I believe we still have openings. Drop an application here. Do you have a preference for lot size or just willing to take whatever (see you are torn between the two, but do you have a slight leaning one way or the other)?

 

We do. There is lots of alpha-attrition in that some people play for a few releases and then leave since the wipes get to them or they don't want to report all the bugs etc ie wait for the the game to release. As such there is always room for more.

Also if you just want to try us out in the pre-alphas we have spare lots and such. We usually put most of them, except the ones intended for public use, out as unrestricted - that is free for anyone to claim.
This since we get more traffic in these early releases that way - and we also think that Lux Sanctuary should be open to pilgrims and visitors.


These releases we have been trying out different solutions for the marketplace, to get the feeling right.
