So what exactly does "thinking on your feet" have to do with confusion exactly? In the context of "oh I am confused, I need to cast a spell to get rid of this" I agree with you.. but in the context of "oh I can't remove this curse.. I am going to have my controls randomly shifting every 2 or 3 seconds and I have no way to counter it and ALSO the game still expects me to watch which abilities are popping up on my bar, somehow press R on my keyboard followed by a sequence of 1 2 3 keys followed by another sequence of 1 2 3 keys to fire the skill off" it makes no sense to say it's about "thinking on your feet" it's actively hurting the gameplay.. it's making the combat less fun.. the method of control becomes a frustration for the player during an already difficult battle. I have heard one suggestion in the thread that holding mouse look / using straff keys basically ignores confusion and that is the only solution.. something that is not working as intended/is a bug to get around an annoying game mechanic.

In theory, having confusion be something that can be cast on you once every 30 seconds is more of a "OH YOU... *shakes fist*" moment.. but having it in its current state where you can't get rid of it and can expect it to pop up (re-randomizing your controls) every 2 seconds is really frustrating and creates dexterity issues for people which suffer from disabilities in their hands.. I don't see how this is making the game better for anyone and there is a REASON most games don't do this kind of thing.

Well there you have it, you are talking about the cabalist version of confusion. The one I agree is too intense because it is refreshing every 2 seconds which gives you no way to adjust to it. I agree this one should be balanced, have it refresh every 10 seconds instead, or something like that, but the regular version from regular mobs (wisps/mages) or from the flora is perfectly fine. This is probably the best style of confusion a game has made, and I like it, I am actually confused, myself, irl, trying to remap my controls for the duration, or quickly cleansing it

Nerf the cabalist version, leave the normal version as it is, that is my opinion.

Doing your stuff in solo and being teleported/confused here and there, is a thing... I personally don't care.
Be a tank in a CP for a couple of hours, you'll understand the degree of annoyance.

I think this is something that you guys need to experiment; doing a tank job by aggroing any single mages during 6-8-10 hours in a CP.

I see no problem with that solution. I feel like this thread has been successful in breaking down the problem with it!

I do hate confusion as well, but at the same time I rather appreciate the uniqueness of it.
My main issue is the Cabalist that confuses me every second or two... make it 5 or maybe 10 seconds, that would work much better and I could have time to somewhat adapt to the new movement keys layout. (or I can use counter to it).
My other issue is that confusion does not affect NPCs at all. But there is a lot more asymmetry in player vs NPC combat than just the confusion.

I wish Torpid Torment would work on mobs, would make it way more fun to play a chaotic mage against anything!

Updated the thread title to reflect the change to the tone of things in here and updated the first post. Thanks to most of you contributing to the discussion in a positive/constructive way!

There are multiple Cabalists that cause confusion, not just one. I don't recall off hand which ones, but I think it's at least three of them.
