Details: moving containers changes custom permissions
Steps to Reproduce: set permissions in advanced and then move the chest from one spot to another in the lot and it will reset to a default type chest
User Specs:
OS: Windows 10 (10.0.0) 64bit
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 860 @ 2.80GHz (8) System RAM: 16344
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 GPU RAM: 1989
SotA.EarlyAccess.Win.64.432.Date.06.30.16
Area: Novia_R3_City_Brittany_Alley
Loc: (208.1, 45.7, 209.1)

 

It seems like the permission only being stored on the item when it is placed at the moment.

 

appears to actually be an issue with if the moving or placing vs placing new items NOT showing up correctly

 

that can be changed in permission options

 

Update: the permissions aren't showing updated for a co-owner no matter which one of the permissions options are changed. We'll attempt a relog after testing more.

Update: relogging does not update the window either... this is my view... ( @jiirc will post his in a moment)

 

As the lot owner I had someone set a chest to private on a guild chapter house. I can't open or move the chest any longer on my own lot.

Great for security. Harsh if I can't move decos on my lot.

 

As you can see, we have completely different permissions and they're being applied when we dont' expect because of that. Hope that helps with getting this fixed @BurningToad <3

 

Well, in jiirc's screenshot, I can't see what the chest permissions are set to, because the right click menu showing those permissions is not open.

 

Sorry, it is a bit difficult to understand the issue, I will do some testing and can also perhaps come in game to test with yall.

The permissions that we felt were bugged were actually based on local file storage on each player's computer. Everything is working as intended. Recommended change was made to rename the UX (the UI windows and tips and whatnot) with the permission system to clarify that. Thanks for taking the time to research this @BurningToad!

 

Worries me that the security options are as confusing as hell........I know its late where am right now but even so. As things stand I think post final wipe there will be loads of complaints of things going missing.

Item security should be really simple. The current system is just awful, I mean there are people who have spent hundreds and even thousands of dollars on items that can be placed...........from my point of view it makes me think twice before placing anything as all.

Default option settings should be removed, everything placed should be private by default. Any changes should be done on the specific item.

"When to apply settings" Shouldn't even be an option, it should be on everything.
"Make Items Private" Private or not Private? what does that even mean?
"Remove or Modify an Item"/"Container Add"/"Container (Modify or???) Remove"/"Player Vendor" Should be the current list + private
