So far the combat I have enjoyed the most was in Dungeons and Dragons Online where you can use blocks and movement and items such as wands in real time. The combat results are determined by dnd rules according to dice rolls in real time. I am not a fan of the hotbar type of combat where you do standard rotations and mostly manage cooldowns. The DDO model rewards your combat positioning and using things like chokepoints and flanking can really turn the tide of battle. My most played character was a Bard and I was able to use crowdcontrol spells like otto's irresistible dance and suggestion, to get outside the usual need for a tank healer and damage model. I realize this game will be classless, but some of the fun combat aspects of ddo could be done without the complex character building. To sum up I would like a combat where strategies and movement can allow a small party to win by being strategic with an action combat feeling.

I agree, DDO has one of the best combat systems i've experienced.
