Details:You need to review looting rights, if I am fighting a mob and another player decides to jump in to steal kill, both parties should get looting rights, it only adds insult to injury if you allow these actions to be taken advantage by players with no respect for others!

Firstly I am that "Rude Player"
This post regards Torc Dawl, we both engaged the troll at the same time from full health, I outdps'd Draconius Dragonheart winning the loot rights. (mechanic functioning as intended as described by Chris to me in person)
I had intended to give the loots to Draconius but changed my mind when he send me the following message after the troll landed on me:

Draconious Dragonheart (To Zone): arn't you a little loser, glad it cost ya xp jerk

There is no bug, as I previously outlined, the loots are awarded to the highest DPS dealer as intended, I did explain this to the OP in ingame chat, to try to avoid wasting Bug Brigade time.

 

I posted the entire chat record of the event, IMO this is a problem with the system that should be reviewed, I might have been rude myself in my first remarks after realizing I was locked out of looting the troll. I do own that, and probably not the best way to express my disgust. Let me add that it wasn't really about the loot for me but the actions that lead to the outcome. The chat log will clearly show that I had engaged the troll first, I also held argo the entire fight leaving room for a player to jump in and max out damage which then due to the system punishes the player doing the work! I suggest that in PvE a mob gets locked to the player that engages it, otherwise if it is a must to keep a door open for other players to jump into a mob while another player is fighting it, make it a threshold where as long as you get past 35% of the damage done you will get into the looting rights! Or even better, give points for certain markers, for example, a point giving for first & last strikes on mob, points for most damage given & received, points for getting past a threshold! Player with the most points gets the rights! Just some thoughts on the looting system to make it better and free of player grieving!

 

Throughout the fight I dealt 6939 damage and you dealt 6676 damage, so in actual fact you did less than half the "work".

The current mechanic of awarding the loot to the highest DPS dealer is the fairest way of deciding who gets to loot a fallen enemy, and clearly it's working as intended.
Why did you post this in the bug forum? If you don't like the mechanic then post in Game Features and design discussions. Bugs are mechanics that do not function as intended, not those which do but you don't really like.

Both of us were present when the troll was at full health, and you have no claim to "ownership" of the troll, its not like I came in halfway through the fight, we were both there when he spawned, I buffed up before running in and engaging, while you were ranged, so of course the log shows you striking first. If you want exclusive loot rights, then why not hunt in solo/party mode?

If the loot mechanics decided who would be awarded the loot after a percentage threshold, the system would strongly favour ranged combat, so that's not really an option.
