Currently at level 80 there are two sets of damage listed in the tooltip:

Might it be related to this?

In any case, as you can see here, the average damage per hit doesn't match either range displayed in the tooltip:

UPDATE: Apparently, the skill is supposed to hit twice... once as a regular impact hit, and once as a DoT.

There is no way this should be working as intended. I use Meteor Shower; currently my Attunement is 103(with gear), 100 Meteor Shower, and INT of 170. I hit a mob for 400hp Crit. I can kill the entire mage room in The Rise, once I get them where I want them, in probably 2mins, using mostly just Meteor Shower.

Yes, I believe the 1st set of numbers listed is the initial impact, which only applies to those mobs within the field at the time of impact. I'm not sure if this includes every mob within the field or if it is random spots within the field. The 2nd set seems to be an AoE that randomly hits spots within the field which can hit mobs that are walking through the field. It seems now that it is nearly impossible for mobs walking through the field to not get hit. As much as I enjoy taking out entire rooms in minutes, without even having to cast other spells, this seems highly overpowered.

Moon magic is my 2nd spec and I’ve never seen a 400 crit at the Rise or anywhere else. The highest I got maybe 230 crit. With wand/shield, attunement at 159, meteor at 103 and int of 150-ish. @Sorthious

Aye....It didn't before, but some recent change has made Meteors do super damage. One note though....when I got the 400 Crit, I had 5-stacked it.

I used meteor shower at Upper Tears just 10-12 hours ago with a 6-stack and no bueno. Wonder if something else is affecting your damage?

No clue as to what caused it, and it's not just the 400 Crit that worries me. It's how often I'm hitting things for huge amounts. It's brutal for the mobs! I'm sure the extra INT is driving up the damage a bit, but I have no clue by how much. It could also have to do with a particular mobs resistance to that damage type.

I’ll test the meteor at the Rise later today and report back.

The highest damage from meteor shower was at Upper Tears - 323. The damage at the Rise was in high 200s. My intelligence was actually 163. @Sorthious

I was actually at 171 INT. The 400 Crit was prob just a rare thing. Anyway, things die way faster with Meteor Shower. I guess they are going to just leave it as is. I think it's a mistake, but oh well.

Ring of Fire is pretty powerful too :) So is Banish Undead - hitting over 400 regularly without spec. Moon has only one offensive spell, so it makes sense imho. ;) @Sorthious

Also remember that Moon does more damage at night.

I know it's the only offensive spell, but with Meteors the way it is now you won't need much else. We did the Upper Tears hidden cave spawn last night and hit the XP Debuff in like 15mins. I went ahead and upped a few things. My Moon Attunment is now 154.4 with 174 INT and I can clear the mage room in The Rise, solo, in less than 2mins. It's really OP right now. I honestly don't see how this will last. I will enjoy it till it is nerfed however.

when it is about killing mobs everybody is happy, when people used it at the last pvp virtue competition there were some discussion with the organizers to eventually avoid using it because nobody survives below it :D

There is realy a small chance to survive under a meteor shower in pvp, I think this spell need a rework. It can do much more dps than the entire fire tree in PVP and PVE. Try to clean upper tears using the entire fire tree with specialization and using meteor shower without moon specialization, wich is faster ;) ?

Honestly, my moon spec doesn’t do much difference with meteor shower damage. However, intelligence and moon attunement does. So yeah, something is definitely messed up.
