Details:
When Skip Conversation With Merchants is checked, the automatic discovery of merchant names does not happen. But since you've skipped conversation, you can't even use the "name" keyword in conversation to discover it. However, if you uncheck the option so that you can use the "name" keyword, you don't get to because the name is revealed when you start conversation.
Steps to Reproduce:
- find a merchant that you don't know the name of but who does have a name
- loc is in front of a merchant that I just had this happen with
- in Options->Interface, make sure Skip Conversation With Merchants is checked
- talk to the NPC
- note that the NPC's name is not discovered
- now uncheck Skip Conversation With Merchants
- merchant name is now (usually) automatically discovered when the chat window is opened, without having to ask for it with the "name" keyword

I guess what I would like to see is one of two things:
- don't automatically discover the name when the option is unchecked and you are able to ask the name
- always automatically discover the name when you skip conversation (I like this one better)
