This is a week old iMac running with a 'Fusion' HD, i.e., it has a memory cache. This cache is invalidated after a hard (reboot) crash such as the OS X client is generating sporadically.

Without its files being in the cache, the SotA OS X client takes OVER TWO MINUTES to load, meanwhile it provides no feedback to its existence other than an icon with no activity on the dock bar. This is wretched UI practice, and likely to lead to reports of the client simply being non-working.

It would be a good idea to pull in and put up splash screen ASAP, rather than sitting there incommunicado (even better if the number of separate file touches could be reduced over time so it wouldn't chug so bad).
