Parry for Bows?

So many stats in Shroud are so unclear, but this one has me scratching my head.

At the bottom of the tooltip for every bow is the stat "Parry: x - y Damage Reduction"

Does anyone have a clue as to why bows would have a parry stat? What does this stat do? Is it related to the parry skill?

The intuitive answer is either a) it is a constant damage reduction modifier - straight or calculated who knows, or b) it is the damage reduction if you use the parry skill, which seems really odd that a bow could be used to parry.

 

When you use parry you have a chance to parry. The ammount of damage mitigated by the successful parry is base on that x-y number displayed on your weapon

Hmmm so the answer was B. Maybe in SotA bows are made so that they can parry, but it still seems very odd.

 

A bow is a specialized stick. While you may not want to parry with a bow because of damage to it, it is an object that can absorb a blow or cause a glancing strike from another melee object.

Kind of like using your lute as a club.

The damage reduction is really low compared to melee weapons. Elven bows have the best parry BTW.
