Picked up town items into inv dont auto stack despite settings

So , as hopfully my town is changing tomorrow with the patch tonight i have to go round and pick everything up "just in case" I dont want stuff I cant get, or it reverts to the old owner, or whatever, just in case, Im trying to pickup everything in my town..

However, one really clear problem comes, I have auto stacking on, heck I love it, personally cant see why you dont want it to.. but picking up items and dragging them to the inv doesnt stack my town items!

what isnt obvious is the pages of markers - I dont want to have to manually stack all those, especially when I said auto stack.. meaning I cant put this stuff in a bag/chest easily because they fill the slots..
