Publishing your own books in game is a great feature that has many uses and is quite easy to do.

To publish books in game you will first need one or more blank books. These can be purchased from book dealer NPC merchants or player crafted (recipe below).
To write in your blank book, simply double click it in your inventory to bring up the following menu.
If you click the "write" option, you enter a title for your book and select a font (so far English and Runic). You can now type as you go and then click publish (tab top right of the book) to complete your first book.
If you select the "import text" option you will see the following menu.
Once again we have the fields to enter a title and select a font, but in addition we now have a window to select from saved documents. Below this field you will see the path to find the folder in which you can save txt documents as selectable books on your computer. This path varies depending on your client and operating system and windows users may find they need to enable "show hidden files" to locate the correct folder. All txt documents saved in that location will be listed in the window (there is a refresh button if you are adding them as you go). Once you have done this, simply click "publish" and you have created your first book.

When writing the text for your books you also have the following options...
A good example of a colour code picker is http://www.colorpicker.com/

If you want to make multiple copies of a book, a great tool is the magic printing press.
Simply grab any completed book and double click the printing press. We then add the book that we wish to publish along with as many blank books as you wish and click the craft button. You are now an in game publisher.

That is awesome Themo, in the literal sense!
Time to experiment making an image using your guide.
Where is the nearest bookseller to Lockbrier? :)

You'll find a bookseller above the bank in Kingsport. Not sure if there's even another one anywhere.

Well I need some blank books and am occupied in Lockbrier, so this is the perfect example of the market economy and the Postal Service.
If, in the future, there is a trade contract system, then this is a great example of player trade.
    It is quite exciting :)

Great guide as usual Themo! Here are a couple notes you may want to add to it.

For anyone using a "default" installation directory for SOTA and has Win64 client... the correct path to the proper folder for your text files is:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Portalarium\Shroud of the Avatar\Shroud of the Avatar_Data\Data\Books

The Books folder is in basically the same location as the Songs folder that many have been saving all the playable music files in. That might help others find it a bit easier. Also, I don't think the Books folder is there by default. You may need to create this folder before adding the text files to it. (Can someone confirm this please?)

It is there by default, but a hidden file. If you create it again it overwrites it XD (i was going to add the default path but have no idea what it is for mac so i may add both later)

I have win64 and the books directory is in %appdata%... not the installation directory, not similar to songs folder

Actually the Publish UI have the path in it.

Also don't write hard paths, it's better to have soft paths.

Hmm, that's strange as I copy/pasted the path directory to where mine is and I used the default install location on this PC. (Win 7 Pro)

Perhaps you have Win 8 or Win 10 ? I don't have any %appdata% folder.

%appdata% is a variable.. everyone has an %appdata% which is located under Users\%Username%\AppData\ The folder itself is probably hidden to you. I always unhide everything right away so someone can feel free to correct me on this. I believe it's hidden by default.

    "C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Roaming\Portalarium\Shroud of the Avatar\Custom Books"

    %appdata% = "C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\" I believe.

    Win7, x64

So another way to put it would be..

    %appdata%\Roaming\Portalarium\Shroud of the Avatar\Custom Books

Thanks SO MUCH for the tips on Bold, Italics and Underline! I had no idea! This will go a long way in helping me format the chapters of my book. Awesome!
