You would find another lame reason to blame why you fail at PvP, amirite? ;)

What I don't get is why anyone is talking about PvE mob AI when this was supposed to be a PvP thread:( Sigh.

Haha, many people won't admit that, and blame other things, such as latency, poor AI, kiting, etc. Ah wells, such is life.

Framerates are bad for everyone. Even my GTX 980 has problems. It's not fully optimized and all that real-time changes that occur with housing don't help either.

The developers seem to be able to capture a lot of interesting information about players. I know they plan on having a leader board and kill ratios. I think right next to kill ratio should be average ping rate and average lost packets.

If all games did this, I think the vast majority of players would be asking for more challenging mechanics with turn based elements. No one likes to be on the losing side through no fault of their own.

Unfortunately when it comes to frame rates, it's not how powerful a machine you have, it's often how horrible of a machine you have (or how bad your connection is).

You can see an example of this here:

Here are comments from Chris on this video:
So here is some dude in Asia somewhere, maybe sitting in an internet cafe, and he's just crushing me. Prior to that I watched this exact same guy destroy Sciamano. I'm not saying I'm great at pvp, I'm saying that I'm never going to win ever if I have to worry that my connection rate and pc are too good.

What's your ping and speed test look like for something a little more local to the servers and not so local to you? Out of curiosity.

Certainly wont have a great ping/download because of being in the UK.

This was also off a wifi machine so there would be slight improvements on my main system. Point is, I cant really get much better internet than what I have :/

That is still viable ping and transfer rates for sure.

    Re: kiting

Lots of American Indian buffalo hunting was based on kiting tactics.

In ancient earth history you have whole combat units based on kiting tactics.
Slingers in the Mediterranean area. Mounted archers in Asia. Stone throwers (atlatl) in South America.

Hence why shield units and counter cavalry was in high demand.
Really the only great defense for an army against kiting tactics was pure archery units. But those were vulnerable to breakthroughs etc.

Lots of guerrilla warfare in the modern era is built on kiting tactics.

Having kiting tactics as a viable option in a game is to be realistic.

Kiting and what you're talking about are two completely different things.

No army in military history has ever ran around in circles 5 feet away from their opponents. What you're describing is moving out of range of an opponent while continuing to fire at them. Cavalry Archers, yes. Armored Knight standing on the ground, no.

Kiting wasn't designed into the game by the developers, it exists because they can't get rid of it.

Put in fatigue. Watch them stop wasting energy on running real quick. It would only be more realistic.

Most people can't last 30 seconds in a real fight let alone 5 minutes.

Lord Something Something (I can't remember his name) was suggesting this months ago. I thought it was a good idea then and now.

    That is precisely kiting though.

That one particular instance of kiting involves running in a circle is only one particular bad example.
