    Hello fellow avatars,
First let me thank you for ask the help you have provided. This community is amazing in helping each other out, especially newer players.

Now that I have set up my house, I am ready to set off adventuring. However, I am finding gold difficult to acquire. I have different pledge bonuses that I won't use like tax free row and town homes. Can I sell them for in game gold?

I noticed some players sell gold for real world dollars. I don't mind spending a small amount to get started. I certainly spent enough at the last telefon lol. My concern is scammers and duped gold, something big in UO.
    Don't want to get banned.

    Thoughts on the above?
    Thanks,
    Clay aka "Quinn Zorich"

Yes, though be aware that if you list these items on a public vendor and they don't sell in 7 days then they will be gone for ever and you will get very little in return.

Offering your items for trade on the player marketplace for IGG might be the way to go, that way you can verify everything before clicking the accept button. You can also buy COTOs on the add-on store and sell them in game for around 1900g each to other players.

    Hello ClayBWagner!

Lots of people sell their homes for gold. My suggestion is to do a search on the house selling forum for the type of house you are selling. Then do a run through some of the market towns looking for prices on that home(s). Once you've done your market research, then advertise what you have to offer. As mentioned, be careful if you use a public vendor. There are fees involved and you can lose your items if you aren't watching.

As for buying gold, there are many people who buy/sell gold. I do when I have a surpluss. TO MY KNOWLEDGE there isn't a way to dupe gold and therefore you wouldn't be buying duped gold. Others can correct me if I'm wrong. I would suggest if you go that route, look for people who have been on the forums for awhile and not someone with "1" post. :)

Glad you are doing well! Safe travels!

Also, get on the Trade channel in Discord.

    https://discord.gg/Huf6qjV

You'll be able to get current prices there, and find people to trade your loot with. Raw materials always have a market.

They intend you to buy COTO from the store. Then trade for gold.

It's a pay to win in that aspect.

Or you can grind mobs that drop no gold for a week, just to afford regs to level.

Wait... You have extra tax free lot deeds? Or just extra houses?

    ***

Rest assured if you buy gold from another player, that they have acquired it in the normal way.

However, if you want to get gold yourself, then it might help you to know that there really is nowhere to farm for gold. Mobs pretty much drop up to 25 gold each and that's it. What you want is something that you can quickly turn into gold, and that is weapons.

So the first thing is to focus on fighting mobs that are armed... I.e. humanoids. Over time, you might find some patches of humanoid mobs that drop more valuable weapons as well.

Also don't overlook resources! Silver ore in particular can be had in some early scenes that I previously mentioned.

You will want to sell the silver to other players, of course. Look around for player vendors with purchase orders for silver ore.

Finally, don't overlook wood and cotton nodes once you are able to farm higher zones. Though not a quick route to gold in and of themselves, some of the secondary items you can get (black cutworm, emerald ash borer, hemlock borer) fetch a fair amount from NPC vendors.

No worries, just checking. If you had a tax-free lot deed I might be interested to buy it.

RE: gold buying/selling I would also add that the idea behind being able to trade COTOs for gold is exactly to prevent it from becoming so profitable IRL as to make things like gold duping a viable business.

If you are interested to learn more from a dev point of view, check out Chris' post: Quick brain dump on our logic behind COTOs. If you continue to scroll down, don't be surprised to find a number of different opinions on the topic.

However- if I'm not mistaken- currently the most profitable activity in the game are actually paid escorts for adventure xp. Considering how long it takes even a top gamer to make 1 million gold, anybody selling gold for money is clearly making a "hobbyist" type of wage.

And even the paid escort business will probably take a hit once there is a system in place for solo players to find groups easier, and also simply more people playing at one time.

There is not enough financial incentive to sell gold in this game to attract professional gold sellers. That's basically the idea behind COTOs for IGG.

way too early for this kind of thinking IMO. Expect economy and game to take drastic changes.
