Quick Coop Question - Starting fresh with friend

I want to coop this game with a friend.

Should we go through tutorial separately? I figure most tutorials are kind of instanced so it doesn't make sense until later to join up?

If so what is the cue for when it's a good time to start the game with my friend?

 

@Thermight, you'll be able to join your friend once you reach one of the outskirts scenes. you should make sure you both start on the same path (truth, love, or courage). it'll be

isle of storms (private)
battle of highvale OR battle of solace bridge OR blood river massacre (private)
highvale outskirts OR solace bridge outskirts OR blood river outskirts (open)
