    Hi folks.

As we all know SOTA's mechanics be they for combat, gathering, item attributes, crafting or other core systems have been designed for pretty much infinite expand-ability and iteration. How this gets utilised will depend on the games success (money and resources including time). I'm not sure the small programming team always get the credit they should for the underlying infrastructure being set out this way, given it must initially be frustrating as it takes a great deal of effort and time to create an expandable base system which is initially devoid of many potential features.

Which brings me to crafting. Specifically my idea is not unique or indeed the first of its type, but it shows what is possible using the existing tools -

.... Out in the wilds I'm gathering (lets say) copper, or else I am killing Kobolds or Elves and very rarely I get a drop of a vial of Quicksilver. If I'm a crafter (lets say) with Tailoring Mastery I can imbue my leather or cotton variant bowstrings with quicksilver, perhaps via a rare reagent, and apply a modest but very desirable attribute of quickness (firing rate) or damage to my bow.

The same could be done for just about everything. A wand could be treated with an extract from the heart of a rare fish/bird/lizard etc (as a dropped extract) to boost its potency in some aspects.
