I just had this idea for a combat system. Hot bar only has 5 slots, no locked glyphs. Can still assign glyphs to appear in what bar. Glyphs are filled instantly and change based on combat. Action reaction situations. If your running from an enemy skills to slow the enemy down and healing skills appear. Start of fight and your an archer/mage then movement impairing affects appear. HP is going down quickly defense skills and healing popup, start of fight you have buffs come in. A spider webs you then escape skills appear to get you out. Basically depending on what is going on in the fight the card most likely needed would come up, and skills would be designed around those situations. You can then have AI do more skills and the player would feel the fight is more interactive and challenging as they decide how to proceed with the fight.
Agreed PLAY the game, not game play me. I wish Auto Attack and "Free" attack get tweaked to a minimal damage thing- sorry.
