Regarding Forum Avatars

Now, perhaps I am simply missing a step here, but I am having a devil of a time getting the forum to recognize a new avatar portrait.

The steps I have followed thus far:

1. At the top of the forum, to the left of the "Inbox" button, my name appears.​
2. In that drop-down box, there is an "Avatar" option​
3. Clicking on that avatar option sends me to my Wordpress Profile page​
4. At the bottom of the page is a "User Avatar" section​
5. There I upload an image, and select it (it now appears under the "Edit User Avatar" button)​
6. I press the "Update Profile" at the very bottom of the page.​

Unfortunately, having done this a couple of the times, the forum itself does not actually appear to update in any manner.

Where did I go astray ?

 

i think you are not holding your mouth right.

7. Go to the top left of the page and click Shroud Of the Avatar > Visit page
8. Community > Forum > check for correct avatar.

I would check to make sure you are trying to upload .jpg or a .bmp file. That is about all i can think of. Other than that you seem to be doing everything correctly.

 

Or I need to be jumping on my left leg while twirling in a pirouette, withthe moon is in conjunction with Venus ?

My first attempts were .jpg files, though my latest was a .png. Both loaded properly into the Wordpress page with no warning to the contrary.

Post the image here so i can see what you trying to do then ill take it and see if i can upload it

 

After you click "Update Profile" Does it say "Profile updated" at the top of the page? I notice it said email required ... do you have an email in that line?

 

Ahh you might have to set your avatar.

Click on edit user avatar and make sure the one you want has a blue check box in the top right, and click set WP user avatar.

If that still doesn't work i'm stumped, or you just need to wait a bit for it to take effect on the forums.

 

It does say "Profile Updated" at the top of the page, nothing regarding email in my case.

Yes, I did do so. I believe my selection would not have appeared at the bottom of the main wordpress page if that had been the issue.

When you go into edit user avatar do you see your current avatar with a blue check box or the one you uploaded?

 

About midways of the page it said "e-mail (Required)" and a field where you can put in your email. I have no clue if that has any effect.

 

That clued me into the issue.

I changed my email address after initially signing up, and did not fully understand the warning Wordpress provided regarding such.

The forum is linked via my old address, so changing it back appears to have resolved the problem.
